Through many mediums, Maya's art brings the outdoors inside and aims to provoke profound questions about peace, beauty, and the impermanence of all that is natural.

 

Motifs and design theory from her Chinese and Japanese ancestors can be found in her work, focusing on natural components, wabi-sabi, and the healing effect of nature.

Maya was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California. From childhood, she was inspired by the natural world around her and aspired to protect it.

Today, she is focusing on taking her art into spaces where natural motifs and design can have a positive effect on other community members.
